Apr 19, 2009 1:36AM PDT

not very often but some times my husband is up later then I am and he was on the computer for a while. he said left computer for about 10 min and saw only a white square box that said problem solution and a place to click to solve problem he click that and went to bed.

when I got up the big white square was still there and I saw at the top of the box problem reported and a place to click for a update for hp. a couple of blue place to click that brought up the help section. basically this is all I found and not sure what it means

I well hit enter once or twice click the space bar about 5 times to start another paragraph. and do that some times four or five time. then I click preview and I see no paragraph at all. line are even with each other with the space's just like I did. why does it not do each paragraph like

Just one question.
Apr 19, 2009 1:53AM PDT

Did you call this crash in?

The reason I ask is that many owners have such crashes on new machines and the makers have updates that need to be installed (I can't know this) or there is a flaw in the machine.

There is a rash of dv_0000 machines crashing and sometime from months to 2 years the machine fails altogether and those that were calling in each crash end up with a motherboard changed out. At least they didn't have to pay for the repairs.

Then we have those that suffered for months and waited till it died to call in (out of warranty natch) and next thing you read is their posts about it.

my husband click where it said problem solution
then when right to bed. he said it look like a normal desktop under the square but did not want to do any more till I check that out. the 1st thing I saw at the top of the box was problem reported so it is reported there. I did not know it was a crash. under the white square was a normal looking desk top. the computer is running OK. are you saying this was a crash? are you saying I need to call hp and tell them.? do you think the computer need to be seen and some thing done to it? if so what and why?

I see you need a long explainer about how the industry works. I decline to do this for you. My offer is to help as many as I can short of writing novellas and coming over to fix a machine in person.

If you don't call it in on each failure you are sending the message to the makers that everything is fine.

I will take a simple answer let me try this

was this a crash? does the computer need to be check. if this was a crash I have never had one before. I thought if it was a crash I just have to try and research and try to understand it better. I will call HP and tell them and see what they tell me needs to be none.

Yes it was Explorer crashing. - New!

There is an issue with some systems that start with this error and over time it gets worse. If you don't lodge the complaints about the crashes with the makers then you are telling them the machine is working fine.

Call it crash, hang, freeze and other words but let's keep it simple. The machine failed to perform or rather did something unexpected.

You're welcome.

Sorry if the words seem hard. Computers are nutty things and I think you've come to see why we need to report these failures. I hear it all the time about "just out of warranty" failures and owners that "had trouble all last year" but were not reporting the troubles.
