To make laptops thinner, cheaper the CPU sockets are going away. Most let you up the RAM and change to SSD so that's not much of a challenge today.

I am looking for a windows laptop. I already have a mac (macbook pro 13" early 2011), but due to some things with my work, it would be easiest if I just got a windows one.
One thing that I did with my current laptop is I replaced the hard drive with a solid state one, and doubled the ram. I wouldn't mind getting a laptop that comes with under par items like that, and replace them myself. I just have no idea what to look for in a laptop to buy. Also, can you replace the processor on a laptop? What all can one replace in order to improve?
Thanks for any help you all can give me.
