I am infected with Security essentials 2010

Alright, I definitely have SE 2010. I understand I am going to want to run the "rkill" thing or "exeHelper".. however, I cannot access the site in which to download rkill from and when I was able to download exehelper I cannot run it. Also cannot run malwarebytes or AVG anti-virus. Really, the only thing I CAN run is firefox which is what I'm on right now. Who knows how long this will work though

I am running XP, I'd greatly appreciate any help

Remove Security Essentials 2010 (Uninstall Guide)

Here is the removel gauide:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-essentials-2010

please use a friend's or family member's computer and download the Malwarebytes tool and it's manual update from the link below.. Once downloaded, rename the program installer "mbam-setup.exe" file to something else like "Your Name.exe", then copy the installer file and the update file to a CD or flash drive.. Transfer the file to the problem machine, then install the "Your Name.exe" file, then run the update to get the program current.. After that, run a full system scan and delete anything it finds.

Although this is an old topic...

-I looked at the bleepingcomputer.com site. It seems that everything necessary to make the uninstall of SE2010 is contained in it, although I never had any of the items that are listed in the screen-shots. All mine ended in .pf. I cannot access the security log in SASPro, as I am unable to reinstall it. And, I installed (after the infection)MBAM with no trouble and run it every day before logging on. The security logs are clean.
-If you wouldn't mind checking the Security Forum, with the title of Rogue.SecurityEssentials2010, and my name hikerpat (or hikergirl), you will see that it seems to have done so much more damage to my computer than the person you were helping.
-Do you really think this removal program will also help me to rid my computer of this trash? This is all compliments of SASPro!!! And, in the end, they really didn't seem to care one little bit.
-Do I need to go through your suggestion of getting the MBAM tool onto a flash drive, if I already have it?
-I will assume I need to uninstall MBAM before beginning.
-I would really appreciate any suggestions you may have (Please understand - I am not trying to pit one moderator against another so, if that is how it appears, please forgive me. I merely need to get my computer, and all its programs, running and/or installed again.)
Thank you so much for any help you may be able to offer.
-I have MS XPPro w/IE6. Seems everything else is missing.

Hi Pat..

I'm so sorry to hear about all the problems you're having. I hate to add to them, but I'm going to have to lock this thread and re-direct members/mods back to your original post/thread.

Perhaps, you haven't noticed, but the last time Marianna posted was April 8th of this year. As much as we would love to see a response from her, I'm not quite sure that's going to happen. (She can unlock the thread and respond to your post, if she so desires)

Pat, I understand your frustration and know you meant no harm by posting here. In turn, please understand this is considered a duplicate post. Hence, the need to lock it.

Thanks for your understanding..
Carol
