General discussion

I am blocked from a website.

Mar 29, 2014 9:54AM PDT

Hi.

I have been blocked from www.facebook.com for a week. Actually, I don't know why. When I type the address in the address bar of Google Chrome, nothing happen. The site doesn't load any more. And no warning pops up.

I remember that I used a software or plugin or something else to block the site. However, when I check all software and plugins and there is no one that I think blocked the site.
I hope you can help me out.
I also try other browsers like Firefox and Internet Explorer and all of them show the same result.
Here is the result when I type ping and tracert.

It's possible something remains from that software. If you can share its title, maybe there is more work to uninstalling it.

And Just In Case It's Blocked From the HOSTS File
Mar 30, 2014 2:29AM PDT

Access your HOSTS file which should be located in the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc folder.. Once there, rename the HOSTS file to HOSTS.txt, then open the file.. Check to see if there is a listing for "127.0.0.1 facebook.com". If such is listed, delete the line, then save the changes by clicking on "File" in the upper left, choose "Save", then close the file and rename it back to HOSTS without a file extension..

Sometimes, your antivirus program may block opening or making any changes of the HOSTS file. If that's the case, you'll need to temporarily disable the AV program to view the contents and make and changes.

Hope this helps.
