Resolved Question

I admit it, I messed up

Sep 15, 2011 4:13AM PDT

I have an HP Pavilion A6430f, x3 phenom processor that I bought a power supply and a xfx hd6790 video card for. I knew it was a big card, but I carefully measured out 10 inches for the card so it would clear the hard drives, but I didn't factor in the sata cable ports on the motherboard which block me from installing the card.Anyone ever run across this, or have any ideas? And thanks!

Possible idea

You can get 90 degree SATA cables if that will provide clearance. Otherwise you send the card back. Many higher end video cards seem to be intended for the standard ATX case and not those from proprietary makers such as HP, Dell, etc. Unless they offer an upgrade for that model, stuff might not fit.

Thanks Steve and Proffitt

Sending the card back was the way to go, even with right angle sata cables I wouldn't have been able to seat the card. Thanks again!
