Hyundai Accent Sound System Query

Apr 4, 2009 3:23AM PDT

Hi,

I recently purchased a 2009 Hyundai Accent and I'm interested in installing a sound system. I don't have much experience installing sound systems.. at all really. But I was looking to make it look integrated into the trunk and not just a box sitting in the trunk.

Also I wasn't sure which would be the best system to pick up. From my shopping around I've basically determined between these two systems:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12216_MTX+Audio+Terminator+TNP212D.html

I wasn't sure if it'd be worth picking up the more expensive Hyundai part, or going for the cheaper MTX Terminator which may be higher quality.

Another aspect to look at was the size of the installation as the Hyundai doesn't have the most space in the trunk.

UPDATE

Actually.. looking into it more I figured I would avoid a box sub woofer all together. There will be nothing in my trunk at all... everything would be installed into car door panels and underneath seats.

How does this setup look?
Speakers: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12428_Power+Acoustik+KP-42N.html
Sub woofers: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_14044_MA+Audio+MA108XQ.html
Amplifier: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9168_SPL+FX2-1250.html
Equalizer: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_771_Pioneer+DEQ-7600.html
Capacitor: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5741_Power+Acoustik+PC1.0F+BLUE.html

Feedback on the speakers selected would be appreciated.. or if there are any compatibility problems.. I'm not the most savvy person about these things.. but I'm learning.

Car Audio

Ok, here is what I see as your best options: But first I have some questions.

1) Are you using a aftermarket Headunit/CD Player ex. Alpine, Pioneer, Sony??? or are you using your factory car radio???
2) If you are using your factory radio, I would rip it out and get a aftermarket headunit/CD Player with AUX jack input for your MP3 player...

As for your options:

Speakers: Pioneer TS-G1042R I would go with these because they have a lower RMS power rating to allow for the speakers to play louder off of less power. Also the Frequency Response is higer 30,000 compared to 20,000, this will give you better highs when listining to music. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11098_Pioneer+TS-G1042R.html

Sub woofers: Choice is fine...

Amplifier: Phoenix Gold Ryval V1502 This is very important, the amp is what gives a system its proper sound. This is where you want to spend your money, on a quality amp. Its a trusted name is car audio and they make great amps. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11098_Pioneer+TS-G1042R.html

Equalizer: You dont need this, save your money. A quality aftermarket headunit will do just fine...

Capacitor: You dot need this either. You not pumping tons of power from your car battery to your amp, your alternator will be just fine.

So with the money your saving on an equalizer and capacitor either buy a headunit or the Pioneer TS-A1072R speakers for even better highs. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11095_Pioneer+TS-A1072R.html

I think in terms of quality, all of the components you picked out are worthless. Check out Crutchfield.com. It's a bit more expensive than the components you listed, but the quality is 20 times better. And it gives you a free guide on how to install everything yourself, customized for your car. Also, if you are getting a subwoofer, you must mount it in a box. If you don't, it will not only sound terrible, but it could damage the woofer. Almost all factory subwoofers are made to be used in an enclusure, because the nature of the box is what gives the sub the "oomph" that most people look for.
