Hypothetical network question

Sep 11, 2004 9:28AM PDT

If you had a Windows 2000 server with half of the users using Windows 2000 Pro and the other half with Windows 98. Would all the users be able to access the server from any computer through a single logon? Would they be required to logon before accessing their local machine? Would they have the same desktop GUI?

If their is a site to find this type of information that would help alot too,

Kent Mc.

The single user login would be BIZARRE and you as the admin will understand all the oddness that would ensue.

But yes, it can be done.

I could set such up without any reference website. But try www.microsoft.com and MSDN

Where's the stop issue here?

Bob

What's stopping you from doing this?

Sorry if it sounded like a wierd question, Bob. I just started my network/security administration course and this was asked of us. I thought I would get some back-up on my observations before I wrote my my paper.

Thanks again,

Kent

Paper issue.

It's not odd at all. There can be reasons to do such, but you hid that your were asking about theory and paper rather than a real application. As such my reply may have seemed off base.

Next time, reveal the full details in such posts.
