Question

Hyperlink vs Button in an InDesign Interactive Folio? iPad?

Dec 14, 2011 3:02AM PST

Hi! I am trying to create an interactive document in InDesign via the Folio Builder that can be used on an iPad or Android tablet. I am trying to put in navigation so that you can hop around within the document. I did this via a master page (is this an issue?). But it appears that I can do this using either hyperlinks OR buttons, they seem very similar to me. Why would you use one versus the other? Either way, I can't seem to get them to work when I port to the iPad. Any thoughts?Thanks!!-M

Answer
Let me start by ejecting any programmer view on this.

Let's focus on the following.

1. Does it look good?
2. Does it work?
3. Did the user that has never seen this page figure it out?

OP already said it doesn't work

OP: Buttons and links are basically the same thing, it's just generally when you hover over a button, it doesn't show the URL destination as it works behind the scenes

That's not what I read.

"Why would you use one versus the other?"

And you should reply to the OP with more detail.
