I can't tell you which of these apply and which don't. If you can't solve it, try a clean install (I know, it's more work, because you lose all installed programs so you'll have to reinstall them).
I have problem with my WinXP system. So, I decided to repair my WinXP SP2 installation using a WinXP CD[ The same CD of my current WinXP installation].
However, the repair progress got hung during the "Installing Devices..." part.
Using another PC, I searched the cause of the problem. I discovered the actual problem in the 'setuperr' log file in 'C:/Windows' folder.
The error is:
"An error has occured while trying to set the system security. An extended error has occured".
So, could anyone please help me to solve this problem?
