Aren't these the kinds of "elections" that installed Hitler, Castro, etc. in permanent power? Doesn't look real good for South America.
... the rule of law (vs. rule of man) requires the leaders to face the voters at regular -- pre-established -- intervals.
For those that don't like the current leadership in this country, they had the opportunity to replace it after 4 years, and it will last 8 years at most.
If Chavez succeeds, you'll see the next coup sooner rather than later. When there's no electoral option for the opposition, they won't just go away!
