HTML editor ??

Mar 25, 2005 12:22AM PST

My connection MSN explorer froze up as I was trying to view cnet page on a picture (picture was black and the system froze). AFter rebooting I checked my internet connections and noticed that I had nothing in my HTML editor selection. I used the drop down and windows notepad appeared --I selected it. (Notepad had been there before) This brings up a question, what is HTML editor, why did notepad deselect itself and how do I know what I need to use there. Thank you. Windows 98SE,MSN9/IE. Also, does this HTML editor have anything to do with why the connection froze?

Mej, HTML Editor

HTML is the "coding language" of websites. Likewise, your Outlook Express or OUtlook programs are able to use HTML to create fancy e-mail messages. If you select "HTML" for e-mail messages, then it will use the default that you select. The "HTML Editor" selection in "Internet Options/Programs" tab is there for those you want to create their own code for HTML e-mail messages. For many users, leaving it blank is just fine...It's not used much anyway. For other users, Notepad or Microsoft Word are options that are correct..I have mine as "Notepad"...

Notepad is a good HTML editor to select in that area but you may never need it.

Hope this helps.

You guys are life savers. At least my worrisome mind savers. I know so little about the computer, am willing to learn and a little bit intimidated about asking for help. YOu guys make it easier. Thank you so much for not losing your patience.
