HT-Z512T questions

Jan 10, 2009 2:05AM PST

Hi, a couple of questions about my HT-Z512T HTIB, with I have hooked up to my 50" Sammy Plasma using HDMI and a toslink cable. I love the system, just want to make sure I'm getting making the best use of it and this forum seems like a really good way to that. First, when I listen to my IPOD using the dock, there doesn't appear to be a way to listen so songs in shuffle mode, is there any good way to listen to random tracks of my digital music (thumb drive, maybe)? Second, when listening to the ipod the menu is automatically displayed on my TV, shouldn't I be worried about image retention caused by that? Finally, what is usually the best setting for watching up-converted DVDs on a 720P TV, 720P or 1080i?
Thanks for any pointers!

It's a fine home theater system but good luck getting any answers regarding this model. I have this system too and my questions on it get passed over.

You are not the only one

I also just purchased the HT-z512 and am anxiously awaiting any solution before I box it up and take it back. Specifically, as this system was going to be the replacement to my old reciever/cd deck and stacks of cd's, I needed a thoughtful interface to an IPOD. Samsungs on-screen menu system for controlling an IPOD is totally inadequate and a call to tech revealed that it can not even be bypassed (IPODS own controls are disabled).

Since the sound quality is fine for my needs and the interaction with my new Samsung LCD is excellent, I'd hate to give up on an otherwise worthy system.
