HT sound with anynet+

Feb 18, 2009 7:52AM PST

I have an HT-X710 that I am using with my LN52A850. I can't get the sound to reliably come on when turning on the TV. Sometimes it will come on for a sec or two (and then go off) when turning on the cable box and TV, sometimes not at all. I have to go into the TV anynet menu and turn the receiver on, then in about 4-5 sec or so it will come on. I am using an optical cable for sound out of TV to the HT. Isn't there some way to make the HT come on automatically with the TV??

I already had that from a previous post, in fact I printed it out.

I can get the sound to work by "manual intervention", using the remote to change source to HT, then changing back to cable stb. Since it often comes on for a couple seconds at startup of the TV, I'm thinking there is some way to keep it active or turn it on when the TV comes on.

This makes just watching TV more complicated than it needs to be...

Bob,

Sorry about the double post, then. Happy Didn't mean to point you down a road you've already been.

At this point, that's the best information I have.

Thanks. At this point I have concluded that anynet+ is not quite ready for prime time ;^)

I have it working as I need it by deactivating anynet+ and keeping a disc out of the player. That keeps the unit set for aux input (optical cable in) and it turns on and off with manual power button. I have added the power off/on to the master control power on the remote.

This really should have been trivial to accomplish under anynet+, but oh, well...

Having no disk in the unit is also OK, as I'm using my new BD-P2550 for all DVD playing anyway.
