Take some of your CDs with you. Just listen to your music on different speakers. JBL, Polk Audio, Infinity, Kliscph, Boston acoustics, etc.
Spend about $800~900 of you budget on the speakers and the rest on the Receiver. John
I currently have a Samsung 46" LCD HDTV that I'm very happy with but lack the audio system that makes it more enjoyable. My old stereo is equipped with Bose Acoustimass AM-5 speakers. I thought they were the cats pajamas at the time. I've read on forums that Bose speakers are not ideal and that perhaps it maybe better to not use them for a home theater system. If they could be used, what other speakers would be best to compliment them? I haven't purchased a reciever yet, but was first considering the Onkyo TX-SR606, because it was highly praised by others. Is it an OK receiver in your opinion? Also what's your thought regarding speakers? I was initially considering the Polk 6750 or EnergyTake 5.1. Those components selection were initially made before I decided to solicit other opinions. I forgot about the sub. I haven't a clue what to look for.
My initial budget was approx $1200 but that was then. Now I'm not sure what a good sounding system will cost. I also want to use it for my music selection. I would appreciate your suggestions and advice.
