Question

HSRP tracking

Mar 10, 2016 4:55PM PST

Hi I am configuring HSRP on using 3 routers and 5 switches.

R1
R2 R3
S1 S2
S3
S4 S5
Routers to router are connected via serial cables, router to switches are connected via fast ethernet cables.

Have currently configured HSRP on R2 and R3 on interface fa0/0 connected to the switches and track interface s1/0.

How can I configure so HSRP can track if interface fa0/0 (Connection from R2to S1 and R3 to S2) fail so R3 can take over over becoming the active router and R3 goes to standby mode.

Also Etherchannel is configured from S1 to S2.

The topology is being created on GNS3.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

You would be covering in your CCNA classes. If you don't take the classes then hire a CCNA to sort all this out.

As i studied ccna v4 and not the very latest one it was not covered. HSRP configuration is to do with my university final project which was not covered

Then back to the professor to ask where this is

If it's back of the class, it would be in the textbooks. Here we hire a CCNA when our IT is stumped.

Try the Cisco forums.

Or just call Cisco straight up. I rarely see a CCNA answer in forums. Yes, I wrote router code in the 90s but this is advanced stuff you take the courses on and earn your stripes.

What I see once in a while is a new networker that wants an answer. Sometimes you have to take the course, pay the CCNA or just call Cisco.
