HREG cleanups

Jul 31, 2004 12:03PM PDT

I ran a scan on my 'puter and it says I have over 700
things thats slow my 'puter down to a crawl. My AMD
1.1 Athlon with a 30 gig HD, 368 megs of mem, CD-ROM, Zip drive(haven'ttakenitoutyet) and burner. The majority of the trash is in my HREG registers. How are
these severe files deleted? I do the Defrag thing, then the scan thing, even the ad-ware and config utility thing, but 'puter hangs up and I have to wait on it. I would totally appreciate your assistance in this matter. Grif I have used the other processes.
Thanks in advanced. George

What OS?

And what tool is pointing out these registry items?

Your post is too light on details, but let me share...

1. Pull the case cover to cool the machine off.

2. Use Adaware, Spybot, Cwshredder, and Housecall in random orders to see if you can eject a parasite if there is one.

Best of luck, and tell more.

Georq, It Appears Like You're Using A Registry Cleaner ??
Jul 31, 2004 1:29PM PDT

....and if so, I'm guessing that you mean the "HKey" sections of the registry? Is that the case? Or am I totally off base here?

Are you still using a Windows 98 SE computer?

Although registry cleaners can be a great benefit, you need to be sure which registry keys that you're deleting. If you're thinking about deleting 700 items that any registry cleaner is detecting, you should definitely use caution.

Let us know exactly what you are finding and using.
