Well, then alot of people are going to be jumping over at X1000forums.com(which covers the Compaq X1000/HPZT3000 and the business HPnx7000 which are essentially the same 15.4" widescreen notebook (Centrino -- Pentium M).
The Toshiba M35 series added the Trubrite LCD recently and that was really the only benefit (Toshiba has multiformat DVD burner also if you order a DVD burner) over the HP triplets above.
HP Briteview/Toshiba Trubrite/Sony Xbrite/Fujitsu Crystal View, etc all are great for consumer notebooks as they make the LCD extremely vibrant and sharp for home viewing and DVD's, etc.
The only negative (and some are not ordering the LCD because of this) is that overhead business flourescent lights or other light sources behind the notebook LCD cause more reflection versus a conventional LCD.
But for most consumers HP Briteview is a big improvement (has a thin glass like layer over the LCD to make the LCD screen look much sharper).
There was an instant $100 discount on the HPZT3000 in addition to the $100 custom order rebate extended to 12/1/04 -- I will have to see if the instant custom order discount (HPshopping for either HP or Compaq) is still there given this new addition of the LCD Briteview option.
Noticed on the HP website that the HPzt3000 laptop is now available with the briteview screen. What are your thoughts on that?
