Question

HPPAVILION/1TB/LAPTOP/

Aug 20, 2015 9:13AM PDT

Unauthorized access to this computer and application of too many anauthorized password attempts caused shutdown to occur and bootup impossible. computer will only start for minimal amount of time, not long enough to apply protected passwords. Otherwise seems functional. Battery OK. System charged. Any suggestions?

While I could google that message I'm sure you did that already.

What model, how old, are you ready to factory restore?

Running Windows 10. QUAD Core. Sorry for spelling errors. Laptop belongs to my sister and I suppose we could factory restore. I have 3TB ext HD. Her laptop is 3TB. Thanks for any help. She is very ill and in nursing home temporarily and nurse tried to hack in to laptop.

There is that external.

There are folk reporting odd issues with externals and 10 upgrades. Unplug that for now.

-> This sounds like someone opted for that new Email Live Login. For that I would use my backup admin account. Remember that Windows can lock us out due to that old corrupt profile issue (never solved!) so use your backup admin account and create a new non-email login. Here's more about that.

Sorry I know I could have Googled the answer but I have always trusted CNET forums and have helped others myself here.

I have always gotten help from CNET forums and have helped a lot of people myself with what I know. May be I should have Googled for the answer but I thought this would be faster and more efficient and reliable.
