Look at the power settings in Control Panel. Laptops will have a battery saving mode that will do what you describe.

Working on HP zv5330us with Windows XP. Have Norton Personal Firewall and SystemWorks. Using Linksys WRT54G for my wireless connection.
Am using Webshots as screensaver set to go to log on screen in 30 minutes after left idle. Have noticed, however, laptop screen will go black after about 10 mins. and all the lights indicating "on", Internet connection, etc. will be off except power button.
When move finger over mousepad, laptop comes back on to sign on screen but I've lost Internet connection, which causes loss of AIM. Please advise if there could be any problems laptop settings as I'm unfamiliar with these being different than desktops.
I really do not have a lot of skills with laptops and know just enough about desktops to be dangerous (I am using a Dell 8400 Dimension.) The main frustration is loosing Internet connection so I didn't know if the problem is through the firewall, Webshots, Linksys or the laptop. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
