Windows 2000 doesn't boot and install to SATA without ... drivers to help the install. If HP doesn't supply these driver, you are Short Of Luck.
Hint? Type INSTALL XP TO SATA DRIVE to see examples. Yes, I know that's XP but the procedure is 99% the same for Windows 2000.
I recently got an xw4400 workstation, Intel D processor, 3.4 GHz, 1Gig of RAM, Seagate SATA HD with 160 GB, runing Windows XP Professional
My problem is I want to remove HP's interface, reformat the HD and install my copy of Windows 2000 Server.
HP won't let me format the HD. When I boot from the CD I get an error message "can't find the HD, press F3 to continue" then the system loads HP's version of XP.
How can I by pass HP's interface, clean out the drive, and install my OS version.
All help is appreciated
