I'm guessing that as I've never seen such a thing myself- & I've used a few wireless mice.
Check task manager & msconfig & Google the ones you don't recognize. I'll bet you have some sort of software in there giving some extra functionality like hot keys or such.
Good luck!
Hi, I've had this problem since I got my computer, a little over a year now. My wireless mouse and keyboard are made by Hewlett Packard(as is the computer, which runs WinXP SP2), and whenever the mouse dies an extremely annoying red symbol flashes every three seconds in the middle of the screen. When the batteries are replaced, the icon persists. Unpluging the signal receptor does nothing, and after trying many solutions I've concluded that when the mouse dies some program is launched to display this symbol, as only a reboot gets rid of it. I have been unable to locate a system process in the task manager that could be controlling this, however, so I don't know what to do. I would assume that something isn't working properly and that new batteries should stop the icon, but I have no clue.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
