Just got a pop up
by eddie11013 / July 16, 2006 1:29 AM PDT

Was this Pop up from the Windows yellow shield that can show up on the bottom tray by your clock? Their were some new windows updates that came out on Tuesday July 11th. You should only get any windows updates from 'their' web site. Otherwise, maybe this was spyware "ad".

Also, there is no SP3 yet...

There is no official SP3 for Windows XP yet...SP2 is the latest service pack for your operating system. SP3 is not expected to be released until next year. There are unofficial copies of an SP3 floating around the internet, but Microsoft recommends not downloading them because they cannot vouch for the integrity of the update. (May contain malware, open up more security flaws, damage the OS, etc.)

I'd just go to Windows Update like Eddie suggested and see what updates Microsoft says are available. My guess is that that pop up was nothing more than an advertisements that's possible malicious.

Gwingee, Do You Have Microsoft Office 2002 Installed?
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / July 16, 2006 2:30 AM PDT

It DOES HAVE a SP3 and there were 3 or four updates for Office this time. If that's the case and you've got the Office CD, then you should use that. If you don't have the Office CD, you might try using the Office Updates site at the link below. After reaching the site, click on the "Check For Updates" link in the upper "Office Update" part of the page. After it scans your computer, it should be able to install all the updates needed without the CD:

Hope this helps.

Check Add/Remove Programs...

You should know whether or not you have Microsoft Office installed (it actually costs more than Windows, so a lighter wallet it usually the first sign you bought the suite), but if now go into Add/Remove Programs and see if it's listed under Microsoft Office.

If you know you have Microsoft Office installed but cannot remember what version, you can also launch one of the programs (say, Word), then go Help->About and see what version is listed.

Hope this helps,

Yes, Microsoft Word 2002 Will Require The Updates

Your Works Suite uses Word as it's word processing program.. There were two or three updates that apply.

Hope this helps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
