Question

HP Stream Notebook PC 13 won't boot from USB??

Aug 22, 2015 9:01AM PDT

Hey, I have Tails installed on a PNY usb stick and am trying to get my PC to boot from the USB but its been an incredible pain in the @ss and I'm quite frankly baffled by how hard this has been to figure out. I've looked around quite a bit and have put in many hours just trying to get this PC to boot from my f#cking USB. I installled Tails using the Universal USB Installer method if that helps. Everytime I go to boot from the USB it just says No Configuration File Found to Boot or something along those lines. I've tried to figure this out myself but I guess its time to admit I have no idea what I'm doing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Clarification Request
Did you look for these options?

1. CSM (Corporate Stable Mode)
2. Secure Boot (on/off)

Tails has me changing these in the bios of UEFI (BIOS) laptops.

Apologies if I came off the wrong way, I was a little frustrated at the time of posting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not very good at PCs but I don't need my hand to be held the entire way through, a little advice would go a very long way. Thanks again! Happy

I don't own this model so I can only share what I look for.

Those are the 2 most common settings I change. ONE at a time. The secure boot means the boot device would have to have the correct signature to be UEFI secure bootable. There are many discussions about secure booting so I rarely duplicate articles about it like https://www.google.com/#q=secure+boots+fsf

Getting to this area the first time is the hardest so here's a link about that for most Windows 8/10 UEFI PCs.

What I called CSM is called by other names like Legacy BIOS Mode or other. The industry loves to call a rose by any other name.

Gave the article a skim over and already I'm seeing places that I didn't manage to get to, lol. I'll give it a try real quick and update if I run into any more problem. Appreciate that man!
