HP scanjet 5470c and lifespan

by duckman / January 19, 2006 6:53 AM PST

I have the above HP scanner. Great scanner, have had it for several years (don't remember when I purchassed it). I've used it for a fair amount of scanning, but now I am undertaking the task of scanning maybe 1000 to 1500 photos. Any bets on how long the scanner will last?

Would that be before or after you try the Tim Taylor method of repair, throwing it against the wall!

While I've seen such last over 5 years and venerable Scanjet 4's on SCSI continue to plague owners that moved to new machines (the scanner works on what machine/OS but not the new machine), the price has fallen to 10% of what they used to cost. So low in fact that repair parts are almost nonexistant.

It will last as long as it will last.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
