by B.Ratneser / February 23, 2006 8:45 PM PST

I have a Hp Laptop XE3 and recently upgraded WIN98 to WIN XP. After I download the software for the Hp Scan jet 2200c ( which worked perfectly before) and try to install the software; I get the following message"class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this deviice". What should I do. Please help.

Run the Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (google that) and then try again.

Try the fix Bob gave you, and if there's still no joy, then contact HP, explain the situation. I have a 3400C Scanjet, but fortunately I was able to download the XP drivers for it - I bought mine for Windows 98 SE - so hopefully HP should be able to help for yours.
