HP Repair

I sent my computer in for them to repair the screen. They sent back a different computer with all my stuff downloaded to make it look like I got the same one back. Their mistake is sending me a computer without a memory card slot. I called them and they said that never happened and that all the numbers match. I noticed the computer was a different one right away. The sticker is gone and It looks like they screwed the back of my REAL computer to this fake. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Hp repair switched my computer.

I spoke to them through Chat. The only way because the girl on the phone laughed at me and said it's impossible. Then hung up on me.  So on Live Chat and chatted with PRANTIK KAR. Was glad not to have to speak to anyone again. He said : We will raise a concern, and it will take at least 24-48 hours to get resolved, and I will mention everything you told me.  So  I have to wait 48 hours to call them back.
I still want the other one. It has a memory card slot and God only knows what they did with my personal information.

Most repair agreements allow for swapping in another computer. It can really upset folk but let's say for a laptop they put in a new or fixed motherboard. Since the motherboard is pretty much the entire PC, would you be upset they didn't fix your dead motherboard?

It all doesn't matter really. You lost the card slot and want them to fix that.

Yes I do. They were supposed to fix the screen only. Nothing was wrong with the computer. I could plug it into the tv set and use that as a monitor. The LCD was messed up. Why would they change out a whole computer over screen. And they never notified me or offered me any options either. They just tried to pass this off as mine. Also, when I spoke to the rep at hp. She said they are not allowed to do that. That is why she insisted it never happened.

The screen can require a matching motherboard and if out of stock they have more parts to change. So to get it fixed they change what is required. This is how it works in warranty repair today. You can go all Don Quixote here or, and this is just my advice ask them to try again and give you the machine you bought that has the card reader.

That makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that they never told me what they were doing. And insisted that it was the same computer, even after I told them the difference. I will however ask them to provide me with the real laptop. It's like sending in a Chevy Corvette and getting back a Chevy Caprice of the same color hoping you won't notice.

Do you mean the SD card reader. I had a person upset with a repair because I returned it with the memory card dust cover installed. I didn't say a word but pointed to where the reader was to demo pushing it and ejecting the dust cover.

The Memory card slot or SD reader is missing. There was one there right in the center. I would push an SD card into the slot to either download or upload files or photos etc. There is no slot anymore. No dust cover nothing.

"Call centers" which are some circle/level of hell. My last HP suffered at their hands and HP totally blew the job. The returned unit would lock up in 5 minutes so a far worse machine than I sent it.

Because of this and 6 months of back and forth, my last HP. HP SocMe reps have asked for and been sent the documents more than a few times but all failed to turn this disaster around.

Lesson learned. This is not the company I did business with for decades. It appears to be a shadow of itself with marketing armed with little more than log stickers.

I think there is a chance that you might be wrong. I don't think they will go through all these hard work to a computer looks like yours. It's lot easier for them tear down your sticker and mass with your computer's back. Well, you can check that out. If you had the boxes of your machine when you bought them then you can check the product ID if they matches or not.

The memory card slot/sd card slot didn't move by magic. And my son asked me for the memory card. I gave him the computer and he noticed right off that the sd slot is gone. How can that be. Me, my husband and my son all agree where the card slot is supposed to be. I get where I alone could have made a mistake. Except for the fact that I use the card slot a lot. But three people can't have the same opinion.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
