HP recalls laptop computer for fire, burn risk!

Jun 27, 2016 1:56AM PDT

Recently I have just come across to a news saying HP has issued a voluntary recall for the lithium-ion batteries in over a dozen laptop models due to threats of fire and burns. The battery of my laptop is not the original one, I have recently bought a new battery as original one was not working well. So do I need to be worried about HP's warning?

I'm going with yes.

Just be safe in where you leave your laptop unattended. There are many videos of the failure so don't leave in where if it fails it starts a big fire.

In your case, HP isn't on the hook since you changed the parts.

Well I would contact HP.

Well it doesn't matter if you battery is the original one because a specific type of battery is the cause of the problem. The issue is in manufacturing or design and HP should be aware of the lot numbers or serial numbers of the potential bad batteries.

call HP's customer service directly and ASAP if I were you. Make sure to back up all your data from the laptop all the time. It's crazy for the burning..
