HP PSC 2610, anyone own one?

Feb 13, 2005 8:10PM PST

I'm planning to replace my old inkjet printer soon and am considering going with a multi-function unit. I've been looking at HP's PSC 2610. Does anyone own one and if so; I'd like to know what you think about it.

Information needed

Steve you can find an abundance of reviews, comparisons and technical testing information regarding printers, hardware and everything else computer related by researching Cnet, PC world, Tom's hardware guide, specific technical message boards and the like sources. Though asking for peoples input is helpful one must remember they are biased

Mackman:

Thanks for the post. Can you refer me to one of those technical message boards besides this board that I can ask a few questions about recommendations for a good replacement desktop PC?

I would like to tap into another message board besides this one that would provide me with product information as well as possible user feedback as well.

HP 2610

I purchased one a month ago and like the quality of pictures and speed at which it does all its intended functions. _But_ good luck on trying to use it as a networking printer. It has been a battle. I don't know why HP and Microsoft don't get together and solve the issues it causes.

Joey:

Since my initial post requesting information on an HP PSC 2610; HP has now come out with another multi-function printer; a lower end model called the HP PSC 1610.

Besides the newer model lacking fax capabilities; I don't know that much else about it just yet. I haven't been able to locate any reviews on this new model anywhere on the web just yet except for one lonely review on CC which said the machine was simply "great"; that was it.

Has anyone on this board purchased an HP PSC 1610 recently and if you have what kind of experiences have you had with your new HP PSC 1610 since you purchased it?

HP PSC 1610
Feb 20, 2005 10:51PM PST

Hi,
That was what i was doing last weekend, trying to find a decent review, but by comparing specs it seems that the 1610 shares the same chassis as PSC 2355, with one exception - lack of a color graphics display. So any review for 2355 must be valid for the 1610 (for best comparison go to the HP online store).

I was thinking of getting either psc 1315 or psc 1610, but i have decided to get the 1610 because it supports borderless printing, has better ink economy, far better scanner resolution, double the printer memory and is much faster than the 1315.

If you are an costco member the model they sell 1610xi - even includes the USB cable.

Thumbs up on 1610xi
Jun 7, 2005 8:47AM PDT

I recently bought the HP PSC 1610xi (from Costco--$117) and like it--a lot. It's about what I always wanted in a multi-function: a low profile; fast, crisp and (finally!) borderless prints; flatbed scanner and copier--and ability to stand alone. Software takes over 700MB HD space and I don't use it much--edit in Photoshop. But it does the job very well if you want it.

And nods to the well-conceived buttons on top for stndalone use. Replacement ink is on the lower end and it is very nice to look at. At $117 I almost bought two of these and would say it's not a bad idea.

HP PSC 1610 cartridge refill
Jun 12, 2006 9:45AM PDT

Hello,

I have had a 1610 for about a year and it does a good job although it occasionally misfeeds from a stack of paper in the input tray.

A problem I didn't expect, occurred when my first cartridge began to run dry in one color (yellow). I refilled it with a kit and continued getting good prints until a week ago when it said. "Alien cartridge detected" "remove and replace".. etc. So it appears that the machine counts the prints and won't let you refill. Is there anyway around spending the $25 just because the yellow runs out?

4/5 stars

I would give this 4/5 stars. It does everything great, although sometimes starup take FOREVER and the software is average. Other than that, the printer is excellent.

HP all in one
Jul 18, 2006 4:24AM PDT

i dont own the model that you are talking about but i do own a HP-PSC1350. ive had it for a few months now and ive never had a problem with it. the scanning on it is excellent. The print quality is Phenominal and its got media slots for printing digital photos right from your DC's memory card. so i think the one that you are thinking of getting should be just as good and if not better. i have never had a problem with any of the HP products ive owned. let me know how you do.
