HP printer problems - advice please

by dorpet33 / April 22, 2004 10:10 PM PDT

I have an HP690C deskjet printer which until recently worked perfectly. Now it prints pages when it feels like it and then informs me the machine is "out of paper" when it is full! I can sometimes print a test page after filling and re-filling the tray, but then it reverts to "lack of paper". This is frustrating and inconvenient to say the least. When it prints it seems ok. and I have downloaded a new driver - no improvement. Help please....

There is an out of paper sensor on printers, sounds like yours is broken. It costs more to fix these things than to replace the printer.

are the rubber rollers feeding the next sheet of paper in ? if not, they may need to be cleaned. i used to have an HP 680C with that problem.

The person who said clean the rubber rollers is right I do this for a living and the is what I do. I clean them with alchol just plain cheap alchol from the drug store. Take the paper out and you can see them. The thing that dirties them rollers is called paper dust.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
