Question

HP Printer Install in Loop

Jan 29, 2015 10:50AM PST

HP laptop (Windows 8.1) keeps getting message:

"Click retry to continue gathering installation failure message"

Then it says it is uninstalling software and restarts the PC and goes through same loop again.

If I ignore the popup screen the computer otherwise works fine. How do I get rid of the popup screen?

Clarification Request
No model numbers?
Jan 29, 2015 10:55AM PST

Some HP's have cleanup software so you can try again. No model number means I can't supply a link.

Also, many printer MUST NOT BE PLUGGED IN UNTIL THE SOFTWARE ASKS or else a loop happens.

Thank you! I forgot the USB cable was connected to the printer. I unplugged the cable and let the software restart the computer. All is well now. Thanks again!

Secure Boot is blocking something. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was a microsoft update that is trying to install b before getting past Secure Boot, but could be a malware.
