Since NT doesn't do USB well, let's guess it's a Windows 2000 machine. Also since Windows 2000 is a Pro OS not used casually try the usual boot to safe mode, uninstall the printer per HP's notes (see hp.com) and then unplug that printer, unplug and proceed as if it's a new install.

Remember any recent changes such as firewalls since these can interfere with HP printers.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
