Things that could be wrong:
- printer driver
- port on your computer
- cable
- printer itself

A good approach would be:
- Disconnect printer from power, and reconnect
- Check the cable
- Use the printer troubleshooter in the Windows help.
- Read the troubleshooting tips in the printer manual or help
- Uninstall and reinstall the driver
- Possibly run diagnostics or maintenance software
- Install the printer on a different computer to see if it works there

Careful reading of the error message (I assume it's more than just 'error') might offer a clue also.

Hope this helps.

Cezar, in addition to Kees' advice, have you tried HP's "customer care" site? They have a diagnostic tool that may work with your printer. Go to this page, http://tinyurl.com/23wdc and enter your model number, on the next page, look for solve a problem, then HP diagnostics. It will download a plug-in and then test your printer. If the basic scan doesn't show anything, look for the advanced scan button at the bottom of the basic scan results page.
