HP Photosmart 407 or 507

Mar 3, 2005 4:25AM PST

Has anyone had any experience or owned either of these two digitals? I need a decent 3 or 4 mp with an optical zoom that will also take good closeups. The price is right on these two. Thanks. Any help appreciated.

HP M407 and R507

The M407 owner reports are mixed.
Some people like it and some hate it.
There doesn't seem to be any in between.
I think I would pass on that one.

The R507 is a cost reduced R607.
Both were released at the same time.
Camera makers do this some times to cover two pricing markets with one camera design.

They appear to be identical except that the R507 does not have an aperture priority setting and the R507 does not have any built-in internal memory.

Here is a comparison of specifications:

I could not find any reviews of the R507.
But there is one review of the R607.
since they are practically the same camera, most comments will apply to the R507.

The review of the R607 reads good.
The sample photos are very good.
Sharp and lots of detail.
