I would suggest you look at the Toshiba M35S456 versus the Compaq X1000/HPZT3000 twins.
it is very important to get dedicated video and both of these can be done with 64mb video graphics.
The Toshiba weighs only 6.2 pounds and the HP/Compaq is 6.5 pounds.
The models you have above are heavier. Both of these are also 15.4" widescreen models. The M35 Toshiba also has the Trubrite screen.
See X1000forums.com to learn how to get the $100 rebate (not the $30 or $50 advertised at HPshopping) and also possibly a $100 coupon and APP or EPP discounts as well as 3% if ordering through Fatwallet.
Get the Pentium M 1.6 Dothan at a minimum on any Pentium M (Centrino) laptop as it has the new doubled 2mb L2 system cache for maximum web page performance. You also can benefit by getting a 5400 rpm hard drive for speed improvement over the 4200 rpm standard and get 256mb RAM and upgrade yourself later for less $
I am looking to get one of these systems. Pros and cons...
I like the screen better on Toshiba (ultra brite has glare and distracts)
HP has better mouse (bur I can buy a mouse with scroll option)
Like both keypads
HP more bells and whistles and XP HOme, Toshiba a slightly faster system and XP Prof
Toshiba 300 less
I mostly use computer for WORD and internet. Photo some but not a lot
Toshiba, sleaker and lighter
Any thoughts on either? Thanks so much
