I too would suggest you get the latest drivers and install them and then check results. If the problem continues, swap the monitor elsewhere or place a different monitor and see what happens. You can do the usually as doing the simple cable reseating, etc. if a bad connection was to include a video card reseating as well. Come back with results. In some cases where this has happened and most often in XP installs, where the screens blanks out or flickering momentarily, it has been corrupted s/w and/or what was needed. It maybe s/w that got stepped-on and/or improper setup was used and now because the h/w can't meet those demands has weaken. try using 60Hz, vs 70Hz as example here in the video config.

How did you manage to do a system scan? Just off the top, from the basic description sounds like a hardware issue, first guess would be video.

I Had One Like That Recently....

It was a standard desktop model where the screen started vibrating constantly, stuttering and even some flickering of the monitor.. Thinking it was a monitor problem to start with, I grabbed one of our spare monitors and took it to the problem computer but before replacing it, I decided to visit the graphics card manufacturer's website and download, then install the latest driver for their card.. Lo and behold, it fixed the issue.. It's been about a week or so and the screen is displaying just as it should.

If you don't know which graphics card you have installed, you might be able to determine such from Device Manager by booting to Safe Mode.

Hope this helps.
