HP pavillion-hard drive -searches every 2secs

Can`t be right can it?
Noticed it today after updating Norton, removing anti spyware-removal prog etc.,beefing up spyware blaster+doctor. Run P.C. doctor and other tests, they say its fine. PC seems fater in some ways.
Am I being a jerk or do you think its a problem? These things run cool and have no fans to make noise. What is it looking for ! I cant find my windows system monitor prog either !

Yes, that would explain why you see your hard disk blinking forever.

Thanks for that reply Bob,
I have cleared my brain a little, task manager is telling me that "system idle process" is working overtime! I dont think I have google desk top or simular ( which I believe, will search all the time..) Want to give the drive a break and the noise is damn annoying ! Any ideas how to stop it?

You do want to know one thing.

The idle process is best when at 99 or above percent. That's when the CPU is doing nothing but idling. A good thing.

Your question was about the disk accesses which is commonly caused by Windows Indexing but not the idle process.
