hp pavillion dv8000 charging problems

by shkabo / September 13, 2007 8:01 AM PDT

hello everybody,

i have a hp pavillion dv8000 and i have some weird charging problems. At first i had to jiggle the little plug that goes into the laptop in order for it to start charging...I figured thats probably because the cable had some wires that were not connecting pretty good so i bought a new charger with the same voltage. Now i get a diff problem. I plug it in and it would work fine for about a minute then the lamp that shows the power and charging starts to flicker....i plug it in and out again and same thing...sometimes it works but most of the time i get really frustrated with it...I tried sending it for repairs and they said its "fixed" but obviously its not....I really hope someone can help me out on this one since i am really it maybe the charger again or something inside the laptop that overheats and stops working...i have no clue honestly...but i hope you guys can help out.

thanks a lot

I have the same laptop, same problem. I tested the adapter first, then replaced the battery (it was old but that didn't solve the problem), updated to the latest BIOS version and also reloaded the battery charger under device manager...nothing helped. I suspect the jack in the laptop that the charging adapter plugs into is defective, I will take a look and try heating up the solder points. HP on-line support will talk to you free of charge but that was mostly just frustrating.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
