HP Pavillion DV7 not reading blu rays :( help

Hello,i have a Pavillion DV7,with a blu ray disc drive,but however,when i insert a bluray,it doesn't do anything,it makes some noises like when it's reading a dvd,but then he doesn't do anything anymore,help please Sad

Running W7 64 bit,don't have mediasmart installes,do i need it?if so,where do i get it?tried installing it like 4 times,but it never installed correctly ...

Help please :Sad

Seems the drive is defective. Try another one.

If Mediasmart came with the machine, you should have it. From the description it lets you view movies and photo's (and TV if your hardware supports is) and listen to music. There's other software also that can be used for such function. So I doubt if you can say you "need it". It's rather strange that you don't know how to get it, but somehow found the installer. Since you don't tell why that didn't work, all I can say is: contact the maker.

i got the installer from HP's sites ... when i instal,it says,did not instal correctly,as i already mentioned ...

But my last experience with HP repair resulted in a dead laptop. Because of that my advice is to return units that are broken rather than risk HP's repair system.
