Hp Pavillion a645c help

Yesterday i tried turning on my computer, and everytime it is firing up, it will go to the Hp pavillion screen then after that a message in the left hand corner will come up saying:

SYSTEM DISK FAILURE, ENTER SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER


I have no clue what a system disk is, if there are any tricks to making this work will anyone please help me? Or if anyone knows how much or where to get this disk is please help.

start up

I need a little more information. What started the problem was the computer perfectly fine before hand.

As well I think when that HP screen comes up the best thing to do is to try and enter the help or start up options, f1 and f10 respectfully.

Also is it a desktop or laptop?

I think it let me open the system recovery, but im not quite sure because i was pressing f1 and f10 but there are multiple tabs that i can click on, but i know nearly nothing about computers so i dont know what to mess with.

The system disk is your hard disk.

So it seems something is wrong with it.

If I had this happen I would go into the BIOS setup (with F10 probably) set it to boot from the CD, put my HP recovery CD or Windows XP CD in, reboot, and see if it sees fit to reinstall Windows. There's a fair chance that a rather fatal error message would come up, and then it might be necessary for me to install a new hard disk and try again.

If this is too difficult for you, or you don't have the necessary CD's, better bring it to a repair shop to see if repair is worth the trouble.
