In no uncertain words, Microsoft doesn't supply BIOS or driver updates automatically. In no version of Windows have they done this. But you'd have to been around the block a few times to hear about this.

I'm trying to install Windows XP upgrade to my HP computer. After about 15 minutes into the installation I get and error message "Setup was unable to read or write to drive C. If a virus scanner is running, disable it then restart Setup." I have disabled everything (even shut down AOL), closed all programs, and still get the same results. Any suggestions? I'm not sure I really want to do this after seeing that I will have to get a bunch of new drivers, etc. What do you think?
