HP Pavilion Notebook - 5000Z vs. 5000T

Feb 6, 2005 6:32AM PST

Deciding between these 2 notebooks.

5000Z has 2mb max memory vs. 1mb in 5000T
5000Z only has 4200 rpm hard disk vs. 5400 in 5000T
5000Z has AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor vs. Pentium(R) 4 3E w/HT

Price difference not an issue for me.

I want the best overall machine and best performance.

Will use general home office applications, lots of Web
surfing, lots of CD burning, and not much gaming.

Will likely replace in 3 years.

Whatcha think?

I finally picked up a new one.

I picked up a Compaq DP341AVR. It's one of the R3000 models with Athlon 64, 512MB ram and all the usual items. I didn't want the DVD recorder and it has the CDRW/DVD. I lucked out on a refurb for well below 900 so it's very much the deal.

I'd keep shopping since it's clear that the pressure on 2004 models to be cleared out is very high.
