HP or Acer?

Okay so I am borderline about to order a laptop and I am torn between two; the Acer Aspire AS5535-5452 -> http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4545456&csid=ITD&body=MAIN

and the HP G60-120US -> http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=FS184UA-OB&cat=NBB

Ive read several reviews and they both seem good. the hp is 50$ more and is new open box with 6 month warranty and the acer is brand new with 1 year warranty.

Please help me make the right decision on which I should buy and why. Thanks!

The Acer wins me over due to the Express Card slot. Here's why.

NO FIREWIRE and on the HP you can't slip in a card to add firewire and let's be clear here. There is NO USB to Firewire adapter.

mainly I will be using a laptop for school. writing essays, researching, etc... But I do want capabilities to play games once in a while like gears of war and call of duty. I also want to be able to watch dvds and stream videos off the web. I want something that will last as well since I dont have money to buy a new computer every year being a college student. So quality matters for sure

Acer is better

I have had Acer for year now and had none problems with it. Acer have more powerfull graphic card and also better processor, it might look as good but i think that it doesnt matter. I thin HP has better speakers. You should definitely buy acer better price-quality ratio and it fits better to your use. It is also cheaper and have longer warrantly.

Oops, couple mistakes in previous post. I meaned that acer doesnt look as good as hp. By the way you should consider to wait month before buying laptop. October 22nd Microsoft will release new operating system: Windows 7. It has been praised a lot. Take a look at laptop then again or buy that acer.
