I posted a detailed response on your other thread.
As I said these have the smaller 14" LCD and the HP nc6000 at least doesn't have firewire.
Both are good lines if you are using it for business but you can get better discount and value (and a 15.4" widescreen) buying the consumer lines like the HPZT3000 / Compaq X1000 (see x1000forums.com) or the Toshiba M35 series.
Make sure you get a notebook with at least 64mb dedicated video memory unless you will NEVER play games or do video editing/ higher end video programs as you cannot upgrade shared video to dedicated video in most notebooks later (like on a desktop).
Shared/integrated video graphics is fine for playing DVD's, normal web surfing, etc but doing streaming video, etc online will work better with dedicated video memory.
I have being researching for the last 2 weeks to by a powerfull but ligth laptop (i am tired of my old inspiron 7500), at this point i am looking for a pentium M 2.0 gig, (Dothan), 1 gig ram, 60 gig 7200 hd, multi dvd, sxvg screen, with 64 mb ram and ligth.
