Why is an adapter or rails required?

The inside measurement is just short of six inches between the frame of the computer I can make a mounting adapter out of square tubing but hate to use a drill motor on the frame if I don't have to.

Which why tie-wraps are handy.

I've even used them to make a suspension system for that adapter when it was a tad small.

HP has a parts division but navigating it has some doing this the old fashioned way.

Don't worry about it . . .

Find two mounting holes in the drive that will match up with the holes in the bay. For a device that just sits there, this is enough.
