hp laptop won't go into the bios.

by yellowjacket_1 / August 7, 2010 12:41 PM PDT

I was given an hp g60-120us laptop. It doesn't have memory sticks, a hard drive, or battery. When, I turn the it on there is nothing on the screen. There is the power light and ac light on. I push the F10 key but it won't go into bios. Is the board?

Is F10 the correct key?

If the machine is only needing what you describe, you should get the HP splash screen, then a black screen with a flashing cursor, and the message no operating system found, or no hard drive found. If you get nothing, the PC has other issues, probably the motherboard.

That's the problem. No memory and it shouldn't display a thing.

The g60 is a value machine which isn't known for long life or being rugged. The reason for the missing parts is likely someone stripped it of parts to salvage what they could.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
