Question

Hp laptop overheating

Mar 2, 2018 12:09PM PST

I’ve posted about this before and I took the advice of the people that answered me. But I’ve had the laptop cleaned out, and new thermal paste put in but it’s still overheating after 5-10 minutes. This is an hp special edition beats by Dre. Any other advice is welcome. Thanks

Bios?

The guy that cleaned it out and put in the new heat paste said that it could be something in the bios. Is it possible?

Sadly the next step

Is a new motherboard. If you had it cleaned out and the fans are all good, then the only part left is the big board.

Is it in warranty?

If the work is done right

And the fans good, then it's not so much overheating as failing. Parts can become over sensitive to heat they used to work at.

Your prior post doesn't get into the details but as it stands, time for a new motherboard.

Is there anything more to the story? Exactly model number, age, issues like a failing battery, not using the maker's charger, anything?

I’ve had to go to work and won’t get back home until late tonight but I’ll come back and give more info. But no battery issues and I’m using the factory made charger that came with it.
