Yes there is a battery that most likely needs changing, the CMOS battery, but it is not something I would recommend you tackle. Take it to a Tech and tell them you want that battery replaced That may be only the half of it though, you may also need the Bios flashed or something else replaced, but I can't say for sure without actually having a look at it. Your best bet: Take to a hardware Tech.
my hp is about 3 years old. o/s vista model c500
first the date and time setting started using a feb 2006 date.
now when i start the laptop sometimes the start button light blinks several times and the laptop shuts down.
is there an internal battery that might need replacing (like the desktop computers have)?
any other idea what the problem might be?
any good internet resources showing how to do maintenance on a laptop?
