HP laptop hardware problem

I have a HP pavillion laptop, bought new in march last year. I came home yesterday to find that an xbox was placed on top of it for about a day. When I tried to turn it on nothing happened, this was strange because the battery had been fully charged when I left it. Then when I inserted the power cable to make sure it wasnt a dead battery the blue leds on the top of the keyboard turned on but nothing else happened. The screen remained black and nothing was working. I tried to turn it off by holding the power button for over 5 seconds but that didnt work. The cd drive then opened of its own accord. When I unplugged the power cable it automatically turned off. I am totally bemused as to what happened, surely the weight of an xbox wouldnt have damaged the hardware? Anybody any suggestions?

Sorry, try the warranty but why abuse laptops?

They are fragile and if one doesn't show some care they don't last long.

the problem is i need a newer bios, whatever happened it was fixed by unplugging the battery and the power cable then reinserting the battery. All is back to normal and now I just need to update the bios so it doesnt happen again. thanks for your input everyone. And yes laptops are fragile and so is the person who put an xbox sitting on top of it.
