Question

HP laptop does not start up

Apr 25, 2012 7:45AM PDT

Hi, first time using this forum. Thought maybe i could get some help.
my uncle tried to use a dvd from another country on my laptop now it does not start up. Every time i press the power button i get two options to either start windows normally or go the "start up repair" route. If i choose start windows normally the laptop is stuck on the loading screen. With the start up repair route, the conclusion is start up repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

So my question is, can i do anything about this?

What exactly was this dvd? A French movie in stead of an English movie? Then it should be unrelated to your current issue.
But it's imaginable that if you run a program from a DVD and that DVD contains malware, it will harm Windows.

So please tell more.

The first thing to try: ask HP Customer Support if they can sell you a set of recovery disks for your laptop.
