HP laptop display problem

I have an HP dv9000t laptop. It has been working absolutely fine for more than a year but all of a sudden the LCD display stopped working. I turn on the computer and it powers up normally as if my operating system is loading normally, but nothing appears on my screen. It kinda changes dimness a little as if the backlight turned on, but nothing comes on the screen. I think the hard drive and everything is running fine but the screen isn't turning on or something. Anyone know any fixes? Also, I have a three year warranty on my laptop, if that is relevant.

The Fn + Fkey that toggles displays. I decline to note the exact key since you should know your machine or check the manual. Also try an external monitor.

No go? It's under warranty so call it ib.

Same issue with pavilion zt3000

My machine is having the same issue - the hard drive seems to boot up fine, the screen gets power, but no images appear on the screen. Unfortunately the 3-year warranty just expired about 2 months ago. Does anyone have an idea of which chip or connection is having issues? FWIW I'm running xp pro, and about 3 months ago the screen would alternate between receiving power but blank and this screen (http://www.thewolfweb.com/photos/00486927.jpg). The monkeys at HP support reinstalled the OS but I don't think they repaired any hardware.

HP dv2415us laptop display problem

I am having HP dv2415us laptop bought just 8 months back.

I am too facing the similar display problem. when the system comes
up, the display will be there for some time and then it go off.

I tried to install all the latest drivers. but it didn't work out.

Is any one else facing this problem. Is there any known solution?

Can any one help me on this?

HP I will never buy again

I had problems with the external monitor system, including the VGA connection, and the S-Video. Support from HP was worse than none at all. After eight hours on the phone, sending me on a wild goos chase including telling me to download Vista drivers, when they knew my laptop was running XP, I was finally told that I could send the computer in for repair for $400.00 with no guarantee when it would be fixed.

I then did my own research and actually found on HP's web site that my model and my problem were known to HP and were to be fixed for free.

However, since there is no guarantee when the computer will be returned, it is a ridiculous remedy. I asked why I could not get a replacement, and HP told me to take a hike, in a very condescending and supercilious way.

That is the last of the many HP's I have bought over the years. I think their corporate attitude is not consumer centric, but seems to me to be consumer contemptuous.

This is based on my discussions with someone at Corporate Headquarters, and my case manager, who correctly and sardonically stated that she was as high as anyone can be at HP for customer service.

I think I will sue.

It's only possible in the safe-mode to work with limited programs and a limited resolution. And all the possible thinkable other procedures like systemrepair to a previous workingstate, or reinstalling the Op.System after formatting the harddisc or downloading the drivers or the 400$ hint by the 'hp-helpdesk' with no garanty,didn't work. I've never used my laptop intensive, nor was it dropped to hard.Please if anybody can advise what to do! Annex you'll find the laptopspecifics:

Same problem

I have the same screen problem with you.Tried same steps fn+f4 . But no results. As you solved the problem by sending it to HP. Did they tell you what was the problem ? . Was it a software or hardware problem?. My laptop is out of warranty and repairing costs too much. Hope to hear soon..

Thanks very much for the information, My laptop is a hp pavilion dv 2500 / dv2623TX . Diagnosis is the same as I previously mentioned. Backlight of the display is working also I can hear all the sounds when windows vista boot up. So the problem should be either in drivers or in the hardware. As I can't get the display out to another display, there is no way to even restore vista.

As I am in UK right now, replacing costs high. Therefore buying a new laptop is worth . What do you think?

you just connect another external monitor with your lap there you will get display and check setting of your display if problem continues surely its hardware problem only. this very easy way to check display problem.
